Duet Display App Reviews

Big lag

Using with ableton live. Its juts does not work. Lag is huge. It makes an iMac 2013 very very slow. For screens with motion going on forget about it.

It just works...

...even on an older iPad2! I use it as a 3rd (Touch-)screen, alongside with internal display of a 15" MBP-2012 and a 2nd 24" Samsung display - with Logic X. The iPad is very useful for touching Plug-Ins, especially for the Logic-internal, because they can be "stretched" to fullscreen. Maybe it is now the time for Apple to Re-Think about "Touch" for macOS, because the classic Mac OS X is still a single-pointer-one-finger-system - some kind of 80ies, or??

Causes high resource consumption (kernel_task)

As soon as iPad is hooked up to Mac the ven starts. Activity monitor shows major resource consumption of task "kernel_task". When analysing resource consumption of duet app itself it is in the lower one digits. Disconnecting immediately lowers resource consumption and ventilator. Therefore not really useful as a full-fledged second screen. Otherwise works ok.

does not meet expectations

App as itself is good, it connects really great but actual app collab between ipad and imac isn´t worth. Specially if you want to manage something on screen via ipad, duet on ipad crashes instantly. This app might help to some MacBookPro or MacBookAir users but that´s far as it goes. Value for money 1/5 Features 2,5/5 Design 4/5 Connectivity 5/5 In general I would rate this as 2/5

Frustrating user experience

I really dont know what made me buy this app for 15€ but I regret it ever since. While it actually does work as a second screen, it has connection problems, excessive lag and graphic errors all over the place. I definitely cannot use it to get proper work done. Worst of all, it only works as a second screen, not a third. Would NOT recommend!!!!

Really bad since last update

Since last update, I updated PC and iPad, I have lots of crashes which was not there before. There is a much bigger delay in the mouse movement and movement of windows. Why have I paid 15€ !!!!!!

Magic

I did not download because of some bad ratings in the past. All wrong, expensive but good. Works brilliant!

Just get it!

I havent really used the app at its fullest. I can tell you, though. The little Ive used it, I have enjoyed so far. It runs pretty smooth on your devices. I was using Microsoft word, I had word on my iPad I was reading on my pc. I could just hover over my iPad and start writing right away from my pc keyboard. Pretty useful app guys!

Great support!

These guys are super helpful! I ran into a small glitch while installing the software on my mac. I sent an email… within a few hours got an answer and Voila! the problem was solved! I couldn’t believe how helpful and quickly they got back to me.

Latest version - dozens of virtual displays added race conditions

Total system meltdown. Cant uninstall fast enough.

Works With Apple Pencil!!!

Not only is this the best software of this type Ive used, Ive realized I can now use my Apple Pencil and my iPad Pro to draw in Mac OS apps. Just move the drawing window to the iPad and you can use the Pencil instead of the mouse to draw. Fantastic!

Awesome

Works great on my MacBook Pro (2013) and iPad Pro! Highly recommended!

Update?

Great app when it works, the windows application doesnt show up half the time on my laptop (Windows 7), depending on what drivers are installed etc. It conflicts with splashtop, logmein, and I have a few extra display adapters for extra monitors which causes the program to crap out. I guess what Im trying to say is: if its working for you even partially the way youd like it to, keep it that way because trying to fiddle with settings causes more problems. Otherwise its an awesome app... Oh right, and if it stops working for you completely, theres a random YouTube video out there explaining how you have to uninstall a driver through command line, or cmd.exe and its supposedly explained by the dev....shady and sad that this support isnt on the website. Annoyed, Ill change to 5 stars happily if they actually put the effort in to updating the app instead of just collecting...

Duet display

I love this app! Its helped my productivity in so many ways. 10 out of 10 I would recommend this to anyone

Excellent for extra screen space

Using a 2015 13" MacBook Pro Retina and an iPad Air, the extra real estate helps with working on research projects. Extremely fluid, even nice if I plug my iPhone 6s in for a handy little stickies area. 10/10 would purchase again. Would love to try it with iPad Pro

Fantastic! Perfect for work!

We have been moved to shared desks where we can sit anywhere. We only have our laptops so since we dont have monitors I can now attach my iPad to my computer and have two well worth the money!

Great Product

Love this product use it when I am studying only had it for a few days but very happy I have bought this product!!! :D

Riddled with glitches.

This app works for stretches of time, but every few hours it will stop working. Sometimes the display on the iPad freezes and other times it cannot connect to the Mac. The only fix to this problem appears to be quitting the app and re-starting it. The apps counterpart on the Mac itself is behaving weird too. I first had a range of configuration choices that I could make (refresh rate/quality), but these are gone now. I am assuming that I am stuck with my initial choices forever now. I would say this app "is what it is" -- there might be better and cheaper alternatives in the store. Would not recommend.

Doesnt work as advertised

First there is lots of lag. Second it is incapable of working with a retina screen which has been scaled. Third it doesnt play nice with with other external displays connected to the same host computer. Duet Display is a toy not a tool.

Fried my RAM module and video card

1200 dollar computer in the shop thanks to the app. Wasnt working properly so I uninstalled the PC application. Complete crash upon reboot.
